RESPONSIBILITY RULES
Any driver or owner who fails to show FR
coverage will -
-
lose his or her license for 90 days on
the first offense; one year on additional offenses
-
lose his or her license plates and
vehicle registration
-
pay reinstatement fees of $75 for a
first offense, $250 for a second offense, and $500 for any additional
offense
-
pay a $50 penalty for any failure to
surrender his or her driver license, license plates or registration
-
be required to maintain special FR
coverage ("high risk insurance") on file with the BMV for 5
years
No one can operate a motor vehicle without
proof of insurance. To comply with the law, liability coverage of
$12,500-$25,000 for personal injury or death and $7,500 for property damage is
required.
